The 2025 Fall softball program is offered to all Peters Township girls. We offer Slow Pitch, Fastpitch, Coach Pitch, and an Instructional program. This is a great way to make friends and have fun. Nothing beats the camaraderie of young players in a dugout. Don't worry if your daughter plays other sports as softball is a great additional sport, especially at a young age.

Age requirements for programs are based on age as of September 1st 2025.  Here are the programs that we are offering this fall.

The Instructional 6U division is a program for girls ages 6 and under, it is usually an in-house program.

The goal is to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for the girls to learn the fundamentals of softball. It is not a competitive atmosphere, but designed to have fun and learn. It is a mix of coach pitch and hitting off a tee. Games are typically 3 to 4 innings long or about 90 minutes. We generally do not play with outs to start, and everyone bats. There is typically 1 practice or game during the week and 1 game or practice on the weekend.

(Depending on the total volume of player sign ups we hope to continue to maintain this as an in-house league as is done in the Spring, but we may offer CVC league teams if we do not have enough participation to build a Peters only Fall league.)

The coach pitch program is for 7 and 8 years old, and plays competitively against other local community teams. Team coaches pitch to their own teams. 

The Fall season is intended to prepare the girls for the more competitive Spring season. We will have practice 1-2 nights during the week and play games on weeknights or weekends in September to Late October. Practices will begin mid/late August.

Following coach pitch, players will branch off into either the fastpitch or slow pitch softball programs.

Some fastpitch players born between September 1st and December 31st may have the option to play in multiple age divisions. Please choose the appropriate division for your daughter. Players should feel free to play up in rec if they have a September-December birthday and are playing travel softball in a higher division.

For 12U and 15U, games will typically be on Monday-Thursday to accommodate travel team players.

Note, when considering whether to register for Fastpitch or Slow Pitch, you should ask your daughter if she wants to be playing Fastpitch Middle School and High School Fastpitch for the Peters Township School District. If her end goal is to play spring Fastpitch for the WPIAL school sanctioned middle school or High School Team (for which you sign up through the school district as it is an official school sport), then Fastpitch is most appropriate. If she is looking for a more recreational or club sport program, then we encourage her to sign up for Slow Pitch.

Slow Pitch (10U+)

Peters Township Girls Slow Pitch Softball will enter teams in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Softball League (WPISL). A description of the leagues is below. Slow Pitch bases registration on ages for 10U and 12U and grades for 7th-12th grade. Players will be placed on teams based on grade, experience, skill level, and player registration counts.

When registering, simply register for the slow pitch league and please remember to select the grade that your daughter will be entering in the Fall of 2025. This will allow the coaches to put her in the correct league.

WPISL Developmental League- 10U and 12U

This league is designed to develop the skills of younger players. Girls will be taught the game of Slow-Pitch with varying pitching distances available and stoppages in action to maximize at bats for the girls.

 

WPISL Junior High League- 7th, 8th and 9th grade

This league is competitive but contains a mix of less experienced players along with more advanced players. There is an optional preseason tournament in early September in Mt. Lebanon for the girls to prepare for the fall season.

 

WPISL Junior Varsity- League -8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade

This is high school level Slow-Pitch softball and is competitive. A JV team is created if there are enough 8th grade and high school level players available after the Varsity team is selected. The JV team is higher level softball which is used to prepare for Varsity level softball.

 

WPISL Varsity League- 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade

This is high school varsity level Slow-Pitch softball. The team consists of the more experienced softball players in Peters Township. The players compete at an elevated level and play a regular season in addition to WPISL playoffs in late October. 

 Please Note that the WPISL 7th -12th grade Slow-Pitch teams are CLUB SPORTS at Peter's Township School District. Players are recognized in the yearbook and earn varsity letters on the Varsity Slow-Pitch team. 

Please also refrain from requesting coaches during registration. For those divisions that necessitate it, we will be drafting going forward. A reciprocal friend request may be considered, but cannot be guaranteed, especially in the older divisions where we need pitching across multiple teams.
