2026 Spring Peters Township Girls Softball

The 2026 Spring softball program is offered to all Peters Township girls. We offer Slow Pitch, Fastpitch, Coach Pitch, and an Instructional program. This is a great way to make friends and have fun. Nothing beats the comradery of young players in a dugout. Don't worry if your daughter plays other sports as softball is a great additional sport, especially at a young age. Age requirements for programs are based on age as of September 1st 2025. Here are the programs that we are offering this spring.

Instructional

The Instructional 6U division is a program for girls ages 6 and under, it is usually an in-house program. For Instructional, the girls must be 5 years old by September 1, 2026. The goal is to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for the girls to learn the fundamentals of softball. It is not a competitive atmosphere, but designed to have fun and learn. It is a mix of coach pitch and hitting off a tee. Games are typically 3 to 4 innings long and last about 90 minutes. We generally do not play with outs to start, and everyone bats each inning.

Practices will start the first week of April with games running from mid April to mid June. There is typically 1 practice or game during the week and 1 game or practice on the weekend.

Coach Pitch (8U)

The coach pitch program is for 7 and 8 year olds, and plays competitively against other local community teams. Team coaches pitch to their own teams.

8U practices will start in early April with games from mid April to the end of June. There will be practices 1-2 days throughout the week and games will be played on weeknights or weekends.

The spring season includes end of the year playoffs with seeding based on regular season results.

Following coach pitch, players will branch off into either fastpitch or slow pitch softball programs.

Slow Pitch (10U+)

The goal is to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for the girls to learn how to play and compete in the game of softball. The slow pitch program will play nearby local teams. Practices will start the first week of April with games running from mid April to mid June. There is typically 1 practice or game during the week and 1 game or practice on the weekend.

Slow pitch players will receive a full uniform this spring.

*Players who are 19 years old but still in high school are eligible for 18U.

Fastpitch (10U+)

The fastpitch program is designed to prepare girls for High School Varsity competitive fastpitch. The spring season is a competitive season that includes end of the year playoffs with seeding based on regular season results. A player's age as of September 1st 2025 determines her eligibility in each age group.

Some fastpitch players born between September 1st and December 31st may have the option to play in multiple age divisions. Please choose the appropriate division for your daughter. Players should feel free to play up in rec if they have a September-December birthday and are playing travel softball in a higher division.

For 12U and 15U, games will typically be on Monday-Thursday to accommodate travel team players.

10U and 12U Practices will start in early April with games from mid April to the end of June.

15U will start after the High School/Middle School season ends with games running from mid May to the end of June.

Games/practices are typically Monday through Thursday for 12U and 15U with the weekends reserved for girls playing travel ball. For 10U there is typically 1 practice or game during the week and 1 game or practice on the weekend.

Note, when considering whether to register for Fastpitch or Slow Pitch, you should ask your daughter if she wants to be playing Fastpitch Middle School and High School Fastpitch for the Peters Township School District. If her end goal is to play spring Fastpitch for the WPIAL school sanctioned middle school or High School Team (for which you sign up through the school district as it is an official school sport), then Fastpitch is most appropriate. If she is looking for a more recreational or club sport program, then we encourage her to sign up for Slow Pitch.

A note on Schedules: It is impossible for us to know the exact date/time of games/practices until we complete registration and create teams a few weeks after registration ends.
